Mauser Packaging Solutions protects their investment in Salesforce with the leading cloud data protection platform, Own
Mauser Packaging Solutions manufactures large and small metal, plastic, fiber and hybrid packaging globally.
As part of a corporate strategy to move to cloud technology, Mauser Packaging Solutions made the investment in Salesforce to create alignment across three business units globally. Key to this strategy is enabling the development team to innovate with speed and ensuring the data is securely protected with Own.
Mauser Packaging Solutions learned their data was not protected in the way they thought it was, prompting them to seek out a backup and recovery solution.
The previous backup solution could not restore to 100% or maintain the complex data relationships, which the team was not comfortable with given the critical nature of their Salesforce data.
Downloading data using the weekly export and then uploading it to servers would take longer than a day – and you can't restore from that.
If there had been a true disaster and they needed to recover data, it would have been costly and taken months – a timeline that was not acceptable by the business or IT.
Combining data across multiple business units and functions posed a risk of significant data loss.
Being responsible for ensuring the platform is maintained and data is always available, the question was; how do we keep our data safe?
The CRM team did not have acceptable answers to four key data security questions if the CIO asked:
1. Who needs to be involved to restore Salesforce?
The teams who need to be involved aren’t familiar with Salesforce.
2. How long is it going to take?
I don't know.
3. Will everything be restored 100%?
No. Especially with the complex relationships and the data that we care most about.
4. What is the workaround while Salesforce is not accessible?
No viable workaround made finding a solution a very high priority.
OwnBackup provides the team with the tools to recover from a true disaster.
Now, when the CIO enquires about data restoration, the team can answer those tough questions without blinking an eye.
The daily notifications provide a useful signal for potential integration issues that may not otherwise present themselves.
There is a greater comfort level when making significant changes, given the ability to easily roll back data and metadata within minutes.
Getting through change control is a lot easier and faster with the reality that we can go back in time for a specific piece of data or metadata for restoration.
No longer worry about any unknown impact to reputation or their customers– they’re both covered.
PEACE OF MIND; if there ever is a true disaster, the team has confidence in a speedy recovery.
Eliminated the stress of data ownership on so many levels:
Too many barriers existed in order to seed sandboxes efficiently.
Data loader process was cumbersome and required a lot of forethought and planning.
Difficult to isolate the specific data they needed for testing.
Avoided testing cycles in developer sandboxes because of the time required to get the right amount of data into the sandbox.
Maintaining data relationships was a big challenge resulting in inadequate datasets for testing.
Limitations on data size and refresh frequencies reduced the amount of testing the team carried out.
Data privacy was at risk as data moved around between multiple people.
Under pressure to deliver rapidly to the business, putting the data at risk without efficient seeding capabilities.
The process had to be repeated each time they needed to seed a sandbox, slowing the team down.
Can innovate much more quickly now that the sandbox seeding process is automated –it’s so easy to seed.
Able to replicate and seed sandboxes with isolated datasets while maintaining all the parent-child relationships.
By seeding only relevant data sets, sandbox size limitations are no longer an issue.
Seed data now reflects production-like data, versus testing with mock data.
The team can test more, faster, and deliver clean code to production keeping the business users happy.
When new requirements are identified, they can refresh the data quickly, maintaining a quick development pace.
Anonymization during the seeding process keeps data confidential.
Reusable templates easily filter and define data sets, eliminating the most difficult aspects of sandbox seeding.
